History#

I am a self-taught guitarist that now tries to teach others. I try to use the pitfalls I fell into and the things that made me go a lot faster in my teaching. Recently I decided to go public with my material and hence I decided to set up some web pages about it. Here they are.

Basically it consists of some of the material I use while teaching and this material is mostly based on my personal findings and, perhaps more importantly, the ideas I get from teaching.

A few of the things that got me struggling were speed, theory, how to sound great and creativity. Definitely there were and are still more. I will try to add more and more material to this site so others (perhaps also self taught) will not have to struggle over the same things as I did.

A golden rule is the least I should give here and that is:

If you have a problem figure out what it is and face it head on

That is what got me to one of the things I am quite happy about: the box. This is kind of a practical summary of most of the basic theory. :) The advantage is that you get the theory and application of it for the same money and it is, in my humble opinion, far more easy than some other methods. For sure those have other advantages, but when you get started with playing guitar this can get you up to speed fast... again in both theory and practice!

After getting into teaching I noticed more and more how some of the things I figured out can help others. This defined my way of teaching and now resulted in this site.

I hope it will inspire you and get you up to speed. Please check it out every now and then as I will try to add more comments and material to it as to give you a pretty complete starters kit for guitar. Of course I cannot cover everything but I hope this adds to the joy of getting that fingers warmed up and playing until the wood starts burning. (Note that the smoke could be coming from your fingers. In such an event please consult a physician and pause the playing. In any way use common sense and use this site only get some inspiration.)
